Mayo Clinic's Division of Epilepsy is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant II to support office visits and provide coverage for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. This role offers the opportunity to work with a complex patient population in a collaborative clinical environment.
Clinical Setting
You will work in clinic and hospital settings, including the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, providing direct patient care and specialized support to the neurology division.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient history and perform physical examinations
- Perform outpatient consultations
- Order and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Formulate diagnostic impressions and develop treatment plans
- Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Prescribe and dispense prescription medications in accordance with Florida state laws and department policies
- Provide patient counseling and education
- Make appropriate referrals
- Assess patient data and interpret information relative to age-specific needs
- Assist with departmental process improvement and policy development
- Participate in departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed
Required Qualifications
For Nurse Practitioner applicants:
- Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Florida RN license
- Current Florida APRN license
- Current certification as FNP, ANP, ACNP, AGACNP, ACNP-AG, or AGNP
For Physician Assistant applicants:
- Graduate degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current PA certification by NCCPA
- Current registration as a PA by the Florida State Board of Medical Practice
All candidates must have:
- Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date
- DEA registration
- Prior clinical experience (new graduates are not being considered for this position due to the complexity of the patient population)
