Nurse Practitioner - Oncology - Mount Sinai Chelsea - Full Time Days

Mount Sinai Chelsea is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner specializing in Oncology to provide independent advanced practice nursing care to patients with cancer and related conditions. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will diagnose, treat, and prescribe within your specialty area of practice, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive oncology care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiate and order therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations
• Prescribe medication regimens and interpret findings according to accepted standards of care and practice guidelines
• Educate and counsel patients and families in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses
• Document findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
• Consult with physicians according to established standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
• Provide age-appropriate care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety criteria
• Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care
• Participate in team meetings and conferences to support an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery
• Maintain patient and employee confidentiality in the management of information
• Develop individualized plans of care based on diagnoses and patient needs
• Record, report, and interpret patient responses to the plan of care
• Perform patient record reviews with the collaborating physician at least every three months if utilizing a collaborative practice agreement
• Complete Focused Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (FPPE) or Ongoing Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (OPPE) as required by Medical Staff for continued credentialing
• Practice as a member of the allied health staff according to Medical Staff rules and Hospital Staff bylaws

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of nursing experience in oncology or your area of specialty practice
• Active New York State License with current registration as a Registered Nurse
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Department of Education with current registration, demonstrated by one of the following:
• Graduation from a New York State registered Nurse Practitioner Program or equivalent, OR certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a national association via examination
• Completion of a pharmacy component of not less than the required semester hours or equivalent, AND instruction in New York State and Federal Laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping (3-hour course)
• Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician and designated protocols if you have less than 3600 hours of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, OR a Collaborative Relationship with a physician based on employment in the NP role at Mount Sinai Hospital if you have documented work history as a Nurse Practitioner with greater than 3600 practice hours
• Master's degree program designed to prepare a Nurse Practitioner to diagnose, treat, and prescribe for patients' conditions within their specialty area of practice, or successful completion of an approved supplemental education program (post-Masters NP certificate)
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing (required for all NPs hired effective June 1, 2019, or for NPs who bill for professional services; may be deferred up to one year if approved by Chief Nursing Officer or designee)
• Credentialing through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as required by specialty

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of Nurse Practitioner experience

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $72.99
• Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need
