Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Integrative Pain Clinic - TMC

The TMC Integrative Pain Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join a specialized team providing individualized care for patients with acute and chronic pain. You will work collaboratively with physicians and a skilled interdisciplinary team to deliver quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings.

Schedule

• Hours vary; 4-10 hour shifts or 5-8 hour shifts are available for this role

Responsibilities

• Examine patients, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests
• Complete comprehensive physical exams including past medical history, major medical interventions, medication history, and pertinent family history
• Order labs and imaging per protocol and ensure results are reviewed and acted upon under physician guidance
• Perform urgent procedures including intravenous or arterial line placement, chest tube placement, and bronchoscopy in emergency situations after contacting the attending physician
• Assist in discharge planning and chronic care planning with patient education regarding recovery and illness expectations
• Review all scheduled patients weekly with physicians or surgeons to ensure completeness of evaluation
• Perform history and physical exams on direct admissions or transfers when no resident is available
• Document all patient visits including findings, outcomes, and course of treatment
• Dictate history and physical documentation according to TMC standards
• Confer with supervising physician regarding difficult and complex patient care issues
• Adhere to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies, and standards

Operating Room Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons in the management of general surgical patients
• Serve as first or second assistant to the surgeon in the operating room, including opening and closing procedures and assisting with suctioning, tying, stapling, or suturing
• Prepare and operate radiology imaging systems to provide adequate visualization of the operative field
• Complete daily rounds on all patients including physical exams and review of labs and medications with written documentation
• Order daily labs and chest x-rays per protocol and ensure results are reviewed and acted upon under surgeon guidance

Rheumatology (TMC One) Responsibilities

• Provide care to rheumatology patients in an ambulatory outpatient setting under physician oversight
• Complete follow-up visits and coordinate care for adult rheumatology patients in an outpatient setting under supervision of an established rheumatologist
• Assist rheumatologist with small office procedures including joint and bursa injections
• Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and continuing education

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major in nursing and completion of an approved nurse practitioner program, OR completion of an approved physician assistant program, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Current Physician's Assistant license in the state of Arizona
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• DEA certification
• Internship and three (3) years of experience required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (department-specific)

Note: For the Rheumatology position (TMC One), new graduate applicants will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of physician assistant regulations, practices, and prescribing regulations
• Skill in applying medical care
• Skill in discharge planning or chronic care planning
• Ability to apply CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients, and their representatives
• Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
