Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive medical care to neonatal patients in a Level III NICU setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients according to approved protocols and standards of practice.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat neonatal patients according to medical staff-approved protocols and acceptable standards of practice
- Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols
- Interpret diagnostic information and consult with physicians regarding abnormal findings to establish appropriate plans of care
- Provide medical services and health education to patients and family members
- Ensure appropriate referrals are made for patients
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Provide quality care while demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
- Recognize and respond appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care
- Contribute to the development and attainment of physician practice goals
- Practice according to written, approved protocols and applicable licensing and administrative requirements
Clinical Setting
Avera McKennan Hospital, a multidisciplinary care environment focused on neonatal intensive care.
Schedule
Day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. You must be able to work the hours specified for this position.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) credential from the National Certification Corporation (NCC)
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) credential from the Board of Nursing
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- All licenses and certifications must be active upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of Level III NICU experience

- Ability to work specified hours
- Adequate visual acuity to perform position duties
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
- Physical ability to maintain proper weight not to exceed 240 pounds
