The opportunity

Job Description

Join CAMC's Heart & Vascular Center as a Nurse Practitioner in our Cardiology department. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care in a specialized cardiac setting, working collaboratively with physicians to deliver high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Heart & Vascular Center at CAMC Memorial-MSOB in Charleston, West Virginia, focusing on cardiology patient care and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients to determine need for medical attention
  • Review patient records and obtain comprehensive patient histories
  • Record pertinent patient data and prepare patient summaries
  • Make clinical decisions regarding data gathering, management, and treatment of patients during initial and follow-up evaluations
  • Identify normal and abnormal findings in history, physical examination, and laboratory studies
  • Initiate requests for commonly performed laboratory and radiological studies
  • Initiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management for emergency situations including cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, injuries, burns, and hemorrhage
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, and abbreviations
  • Maintain and document all applicable required education
  • Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
  • Perform work in a cost-effective manner
  • Comply with departmental attendance, pay practices, and scheduling policies
  • Perform work in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and strategic plans

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MSN) or Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program in a physician assistant or related program from an accredited institution
  • Licensed Physician Assistant credential
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of hire
  • Ability to obtain and interpret patient information
  • Knowledge of growth and development as it applies to patient care
  • Understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient population
  • Competency in performing assigned tasks as specified in departmental competency checklist

Schedule

  • Full-time regular position (1.0 FTE)
  • Days shift
  • Work schedule includes overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations as required by departmental policies
