Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Nurse Practitioner II for a temporary position in Adult Primary Care at the Stockton Medical Offices. This is a full-time role expected to last up to 90 days, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with no travel required.
You will provide comprehensive patient assessment and care for adult patients in the primary care setting, including preventive care and management of chronic health conditions. You will work collaboratively with physicians and other clinicians to ensure effective, high-quality patient care consistent with established quality indicators.
Responsibilities
- Conduct age-appropriate patient assessments including history taking and physical examinations consistent with department protocol
- Perform ongoing systematic assessment and data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status
- Provide patient and family education and advocacy
- Consult with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings
- Review medical records and order diagnostic studies under established protocols
- Establish and maintain communication with other healthcare providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and continuity of care
- Establish effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families
- Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members, evaluating effectiveness of care provided
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles and perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols
- Participate in staff development activities, performance improvement initiatives, and nursing research as requested
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer and telecommunication use for documentation and information management
- Practice under standard procedures established for the NP role consistent with Kaiser Permanente policy and California Board of Registered Nursing requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months experience as a nurse practitioner
- One year of experience within the past three years as an NP providing care for adults (18 years and older), including preventive care and follow-up for patients with chronic health conditions
- Master's Degree in Nursing (unless already a Kaiser Permanente employee grandfathered in prior to the California Business and Professions Code requirement effective January 1, 2008)
- Completion of a Master's Program in Adult NP, Family Practice NP, Acute Care NP, or Geriatric NP
- California Nurse Practitioner Certificate
- California Registered Nurse License
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
- Basic Life Support certification
- National Provider Identifier at hire
- Nurse Practitioner National Certificate
- National certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Credentialing Center, National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties, or National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses
- Must meet credentialing requirements established for nurse practitioners within the Kaiser system
- Must meet requirements to apply for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) at time of hire and apply within 30 days of hire
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Day shift, Monday through Friday
- 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Expected length of employment up to 90 days
