Nurse Practitioner II TEMP

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Nurse Practitioner II for a temporary position in the Obstetrics/Gynecology department at the Stockton Medical Offices. This role provides an excellent opportunity to deliver comprehensive patient care in women's health, including family planning, perinatal care, and menopause management.

You will work as part of an interdisciplinary clinical team, performing patient assessments, physical examinations, and consultations both in person and via phone or electronic communication. You will collaborate with physicians and other clinicians to ensure effective, high-quality patient care consistent with established quality indicators.

Clinical Setting

This position is located in the Obstetrics/Gynecology department at Stockton Medical Offices in Stockton, California. You will report to the Chief of the designated service and the Department Manager.

Responsibilities

• Conduct age-appropriate patient assessments, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol
• Perform ongoing systematic assessment and data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status
• Provide patient and family education, facilitate family involvement, and advocate for patients
• Consult with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings
• Review medical records and order diagnostic studies under established protocols
• Participate with physicians and other clinicians to ensure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators
• Establish and maintain communication with other healthcare providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and continuity of care
• Build effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families while respecting staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs
• Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties and activities of healthcare team members; evaluate effectiveness of care provided
• Demonstrate knowledge of and apply safety principles; perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols
• Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for professional practice; participate in staff development activities
• Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management
• Participate in unit and department performance improvement activities and nursing research as requested
• Identify and solve problems effectively
• Demonstrate proficiency in using computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track, and convey information
• Fulfill expectations established for specialty roles as applicable
• Perform other related duties as necessary

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 6 months experience as a Nurse Practitioner
• One year of experience within the past 3 years as a Nurse Practitioner providing care for women in family planning, perinatal care, or menopause management

Education

• Master's Degree in Nursing (unless already a Kaiser Permanente employee who was grandfathered in prior to the California Business and Professions Code requirement effective January 1, 2008)
• Completion of a master's program in Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Practice Nurse Practitioner, or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

Licenses and Certifications

• Active California Registered Nurse License
• California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
• California Nurse Practitioner Certificate
• Nurse Practitioner National Certificate
• Basic Life Support certification
• National Provider Identifier (required at hire)
• National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; or National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses

Additional Requirements

• Must meet credentialing requirements established for Nurse Practitioners within the Kaiser system
• Must meet requirements to apply for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) at the time of hire and apply within 30 days of hire
• Must comply with requirements outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement

Schedule

• Full-time, temporary position with expected length of employment up to 90 days
• 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday
• Day shift: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
• No travel required
