The opportunity

Job Description

Sanford Health is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide advanced mental health care to patients of all ages at the Bemidji 1705 Clinic in Bemidji, Minnesota. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative psychiatric setting within the largest rural health system in the United States.

Clinical Setting

You will work at the Bemidji 1705 Clinic located at 1705 Anne St NW, Bemidji, MN 56601. This position includes on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams and psychosocial assessments
  • Diagnose and treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects
  • Provide individual, group, or family psychotherapy as appropriate
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and families
  • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and community resources
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medications, and coping strategies
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely
  • Participate in crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care as needed
  • Engage in quality improvement, continuing education, and professional development

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • 40 hours per week
  • Day shifts (8 hours)
  • On-call coverage required outside regularly scheduled hours

Required Qualifications

  • Master's, postmaster's, or doctorate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in Minnesota
  • State Controlled Substance License (if required by Minnesota)
  • National board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC or PMHNP-C)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing (if licensed prior to August 1, 1995)
  • Experience in psychiatric or mental health settings
