Nurse Practitioner-Hospital Medicine Practice - Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time - Day

Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Hospital Medicine Practice to join our clinical team in a full-time, day shift position. As an independent practitioner, you will diagnose, treat, and prescribe for patients within your specialty area of practice. You will work collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive patient care in the hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Order and initiate therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations
• Prescribe medication regimens and interpret findings according to accepted standards of care and practice guidelines
• Develop, document, and implement individualized plans of care based on patient diagnoses and needs
• Educate and counsel patients in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses
• Consult with physicians according to established standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
• Perform patient record reviews with the collaborating physician at least every three months if utilizing a collaborative practice agreement
• Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care
• Participate in team meetings and conferences to support an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery
• Complete Focused Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (FPPE) or Ongoing Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (OPPE) as required by Medical Staff for continued credentialing
• Maintain patient and employee confidentiality in all information management
• Practice as a member of the allied health staff according to Medical Staff rules and Hospital Staff bylaws
• Participate in peer review and departmental committees that influence nursing practice and patient care delivery
• Incorporate research findings into clinical practice and participate in approved nursing and medical research studies
• Maintain current knowledge through self-directed learning, literature review, and attendance at educational programs

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license with current registration
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Department of Education with current registration
• Master's degree program designed to prepare an NP to diagnose, treat, and prescribe, or successful completion of an approved supplemental education program (post-master's NP certificate)
• Completion of a pharmacy component of not less than required semester hours
• Instruction in New York State and Federal Laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping (3-hour course)
• Previous progressive experience relevant to the area of clinical practice
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing (required for all NPs hired effective June 1, 2019, or for NPs who bill for professional services; may be deferred up to 1 year if approved by Chief Nursing Officer or designee)
• Credentialing through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges
• Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician and designated protocols if less than 3,600 hours of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, OR Collaborative Relationship with a physician based on employment in the NP role at Mount Sinai Hospital if documented work history as an NP with greater than 3,600 practice hours
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills in the area of assignment

• Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
• The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $84.59
• Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need
• Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
