Nurse Practitioner- Hematology/Oncology & Infusion Clinic Full Time Days

This full-time day position offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive medical care to patients in a hematology/oncology and infusion clinic setting. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with physicians and the healthcare team to manage the medical aspects of patient care through jointly developed protocols, with a focus on pediatric and adult patients requiring infusion services and hematology/oncology treatment.

Clinical Setting

You will practice within a hematology/oncology and infusion clinic, providing care to patients with acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare needs in this specialty setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide general medical care and treatment to patients within the clinic setting
• Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures according to physician guidelines
• Assess growth and nutritional status of patients appropriately
• Diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and healthcare needs
• Record physical findings and formulate treatment plans and prognosis based on patient condition
• Discuss cases with physicians and other health professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plans
• Prescribe or recommend medications and other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures
• Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records with documentation of all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with regulatory standards
• Provide developmentally appropriate care to patients
• Refer patients to physicians for consultation or to specialized health resources as needed
• Order appropriate diagnostic screening tests according to protocol
• Educate patients and families about preventive care, immunizations, medical issues, and prescribed treatments and medications
• Work in independent and interdependent relationships with medical staff members, allowing for consultation, collaboration, and referral
• Share knowledge and skills with colleagues to enhance professional development
• Maintain professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous and friendly manner
• Analyze new knowledge from conferences, workshops, professional literature, and hands-on training and integrate it into clinical practice
• Use hospital resources and time appropriately
• Optimize time efficiently and effectively
• Accurately record patient charges to ensure appropriate billing of services

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree required
• Active Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Tennessee
• Active listener with critical thinking skills
• Ability to reflect a professional and caring persona for patients and families

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in pediatric infusions and/or hematology/oncology

Physical Requirements

• Light lifting, pushing, and pulling of 10-20 lbs occasionally
• Frequent moving of objects less than 10 lbs
• Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending, and reaching
• Keyboard/computer use and repetitive motions may be required
