NURSE PRACTITIONER - Hematology Oncology - Mount Sinai Chelsea - Per Diem Days

Mount Sinai Chelsea is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Hematology Oncology department to work on a per diem, as-needed basis. In this role, you will provide acute and primary health care services to patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions, working collaboratively with physicians and an interdisciplinary team.

Clinical Setting

You will practice within Mount Sinai Health System, one of the largest academic medical systems in the New York metro area, with eight hospitals and more than 400 outpatient practices. This position is based at Mount Sinai Chelsea.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a collaborative practice agreement in hematology oncology and conduct periodic reviews
• Assess patient and family health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiate selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations
• Prescribe and alter medication regimens according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols
• Interpret clinical findings and adjust the plan of care as appropriate
• Provide teaching and counseling in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses
• Document findings and plan of care in patient medical records
• Consult with collaborating physicians as established in the practice agreement
• Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care
• Participate in team meetings and conferences to support an interdisciplinary approach to patient care
• Conduct patient record reviews with the collaborating physician at least every three months
• Manage clinical specialty programs for select patient populations across the hospital continuum and provide outcome data for program evaluation and performance improvement
• Serve as a resource to nurses and other health team members
• Participate in peer review and departmental committees
• Incorporate research findings into clinical practice and participate in approved nursing and medical research studies
• Maintain current knowledge through self-directed learning, literature review, and attendance at educational programs

Education Requirements

• Master's degree from a program designed to prepare a registered nurse to provide acute or primary health care services, OR
• Successful completion of an approved supplemental education program (post-Master's NP certificate)

Licenses and Certifications

• New York State Nurse Practitioner certification
• Active New York State RN license

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $75.00
• Actual salary depends on experience, education, and operational need
• Does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
