Nurse Practitioner-Heart Hospital NPS - Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time - Day

Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Heart Hospital NPS to provide independent advanced practice nursing care in a full-time, day shift position. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will diagnose, treat, and prescribe for patients within your specialty area of practice. Medical orders, progress notes, and treatment plans do not require physician countersignature.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiate and order therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations
• Prescribe medication regimens and interpret findings according to accepted standards of care and practice guidelines
• Educate and counsel patients in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses
• Document findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
• Consult with physicians according to established standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
• Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care
• Participate in team meetings and conferences to support an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery
• Maintain patient and employee confidentiality
• Develop individualized plans of care based on diagnoses and patient needs
• Record, report, and interpret patient responses to the plan of care
• Perform patient record reviews with the collaborating physician at least every three months if utilizing a collaborative practice agreement
• Complete Focused Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (FPPE) or Ongoing Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (OPPE) as required by Medical Staff for continued credentialing
• Practice as a member of the allied health staff according to Medical Staff rules and Hospital Staff bylaws

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license with current registration
• New York State certification as a Nurse Practitioner with current registration
• Graduate of a New York State registered Nurse Practitioner program or equivalent, or certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a national association via examination
• Completion of a pharmacy component of not less than the required semester hours
• Instruction in New York State and Federal laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping (3-hour course)
• Master's degree program designed to prepare an NP to diagnose, treat, and prescribe within their specialty area of practice, or successful completion of an approved supplemental education program (post-master's NP certificate)
• Previous progressive experience relevant to the area of clinical practice
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing (required for all NPs hired effective June 1, 2019, or for NPs who bill for professional services; may be deferred up to 1 year if approved by Chief Nursing Officer or designee)
• Credentialing through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges
• Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician and designated protocols if you have less than 3,600 hours of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, OR Collaborative Relationship with a physician based on employment in the NP role at Mount Sinai Hospital if you have documented work history as a Nurse Practitioner with greater than 3,600 practice hours (all NPs will be placed on FPPE initially)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required by specialty

• Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) as required by specialty
• The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as required by specialty

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $84.59
• Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need
• Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
