Nurse Practitioner - GYN Oncology - Brooklyn - 8 hr days

Join NYU Langone Health as a Nurse Practitioner in Gynecologic Oncology, based in Brooklyn. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with gynecologic malignancies in a collaborative practice setting with attending physicians at NYU Hospitals Center. You will work 8-hour days in both inpatient and outpatient environments, applying evidence-based practice and clinical expertise to optimize patient outcomes.

Clinical Setting

This role is embedded within NYU Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Langone Health, one of the nation's top-ranked medical institutions. You will practice within a collaborative care model, working closely with attending physicians, consulting specialists, and an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality oncology care.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize comprehensive care to meet individual patient needs and ensure appropriate clinical resource utilization per established protocols and pathways
• Monitor and trend cost-effectiveness of the position relative to efficiency and performance indicators
• Perform complete health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment of patients
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies per practice protocols; identify abnormal findings and follow protocols for referral to consulting physicians
• Prescribe medications (including controlled substances with DEA authorization) and medical equipment per New York State law and practice protocols
• Formulate and implement plans of care collaboratively with attending physicians, patients, and families based on expected goals and length of stay
• Evaluate treatment and health care plans for effectiveness and modify per clinical standards and practice protocols
• Serve as a clinical expert and resource for peer and interdisciplinary education
• Participate in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable
• Work collaboratively with nursing and other disciplines in the development and implementation of clinical studies
• Use evidence-based health care literature to advise and support appropriate practice changes
• Participate in the development and monitoring of patient outcomes for quality and performance improvement
• Maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members, housestaff, other disciplines, and ancillary services
• Facilitate continuity of care across the continuum of services including home care, other facilities, and follow-up appointments
• Participate in the development and revision of interdisciplinary and nursing standards and patient education materials
• Demonstrate knowledge of organizational Service Standards and incorporate them into daily practice
• Maintain current expertise in area of practice and promote own professional growth and development
• Consider needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care
• Function as a respectful member of the health care team and participate in designated professional nursing activities

Required Qualifications

• Current registration as a Professional Nurse in New York
• Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in New York
• Master's Degree in Nursing
• Certification by ANCC or Board Certification from another specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice (required as soon as feasible following graduation from NP graduate program)
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• At least five years of clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served
• Previous experience as a nurse practitioner
• Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association or Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (may be required based on selected privileges)
• Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion that addresses patient and family safety and satisfaction
• Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving, and excellent critical thinking and leadership
• Previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated effectiveness as a change agent
• Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities
• Membership in professional specialty organizations

• 8-hour days

Compensation

• Salary range: $151,530.94 - $182,030.94 annually
• Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need
• Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
