Greater Baden Medical Services (GBMS) is seeking a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner to provide direct patient care and care consultation for a panel of patients across our Federally Qualified Health Center. This position is based in an outpatient office environment serving over 18,000 patients annually across 9 clinical sites in Southern Maryland (Prince George's, Charles, and St. Mary's counties). Our patient population is primarily Medicaid and uninsured individuals, and we provide fully integrated care including primary care, pediatrics, women's health, family planning, dental care, behavioral health, and pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive physical assessments of adult patients and evaluate outcomes of patient care
  • Establish medical diagnoses for common short-term and chronic stable health problems
  • Prescribe pharmaceutical therapy, physical therapy, inhalation therapy, and related therapeutic procedures
  • Conduct age-appropriate risk assessments and developmental assessments
  • Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Order and perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and corrective measures
  • Advocate for and order immunizations according to current ACIP and CDC guidelines
  • Arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services; confer with specialists on course of care and treatment
  • Refer patients to appropriate licensed physicians or specialized health resources as needed
  • Provide same-day care as required
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of clinical care in the Electronic Health Record in accordance with clinic protocols and company policy
  • Comply with Joint Commission standards for ambulatory care and Patient Centered Medical Home standards and guidelines
  • Participate in the organization's Performance and Quality Improvement activities
  • Comply with regulations regarding consultations and insurance coverage requirements
  • Comply with the organization's training requirements and risk management programs
  • Provide clinical leadership and act as a resource to other members of the healthcare team, patients, and community members as appropriate
  • Provide clinical support to the Chief Medical Officer and other providers in the clinic
  • Participate in team and staff meetings, in-service meetings, and applicable workshops
  • Assist with credentialing file submissions in a timely manner
  • Assist the Safety Officer with employee health activities when needed, especially in the event of bloodborne pathogen exposure

Schedule

Full-time position consisting of 32 clinical hours and 8 administrative hours per week. No weekends currently required, though this is subject to change.

Required Qualifications

  • Current License to practice medicine in the State of Maryland
  • Current Maryland prescriber number
  • Current DEA and CDS licenses
  • Minimum 5-10 years of working experience in family medicine patient care
  • Current BLS and/or ACLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner Board Certification

  • Must be able to drive between Greater Baden Medical Services locations

Reports to the Chief Medical Officer. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
