Nurse Practitioner (Family Health) (NY HELPS)

This Nurse Practitioner position provides primary health care to adolescent youth in the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) system. You will assess physical and psychosocial status, perform health examinations, manage acute and chronic conditions, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to address both medical and behavioral health needs.

Clinical Setting

You will work within OCFS facilities serving adolescent youth, providing comprehensive primary care from admission through discharge.

Responsibilities

• Assess the physical and psychosocial status of youth through interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests
• Perform health examinations in accordance with OCFS policy and protocols
• Provide routine medical evaluations and treat acute non-emergent illnesses
• Manage chronic conditions
• Prescribe medications, treatments, devices, and immunizing agents
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members on treatment planning
• Consult on co-occurring physical and behavioral health treatment needs
• Order and interpret routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
• Document patient encounters, consultation notes, and treatment plans in paper and electronic health records
• Ensure facility compliance with state health regulations and safety standards
• Provide medical clearance evaluations for facility discharges
• Provide after-hours and weekend telephone consultation for urgent health-related matters

Required Qualifications

You must meet one of the following:

• One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer, OR
• Current licensure and registration as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health by the New York State Education Department (available through the NY HELPS non-competitive appointment program)

You must maintain a valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license and registration throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed 3,600 hours of collaboration with a Physician

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $140,252 annually (PS&T Grade 24 base salary of $115,252 plus Geographic Pay Differential of $25,000)
