Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cardiology to provide direct patient care as a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider. You will have prescriptive authority and will be credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. This position offers the opportunity to work in a specialty clinic setting within the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and obtaining medical histories
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs
  • Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies and other therapeutic treatments based on approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost
  • Formulate and implement patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and standards of care, working with physicians and team members as needed
  • Evaluate patient response to care and treatment effectiveness
  • Counsel patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, including information about drug regimens, possible side effects, and interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes
  • Initiate timely consultation and referral when problems exceed your scope of practice or expertise
  • Provide consultation-level services for conditions related to cardiology and your training
  • Manage patients in healthcare settings beyond the primary clinic, including inpatient, emergency services, and procedural settings
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to your scope of practice and proficiency as delegated by the supervising physician
  • May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on department coverage needs

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas
  • Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a state in the Nurse Licensure Compact for RNs and LVNs
  • Texas APRN licensure
  • Acute Care Adult-Gerontology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Less than one year of experience
