Nurse Practitioner - Advanced Practice - Oberlin, Ohio

This Nurse Practitioner position provides advanced practice nursing care to residents and clients in a healthcare operations setting. You will conduct comprehensive physical exams, medical and social histories, and make independent clinical decisions regarding diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams and comprehensive medical and social histories for individuals with acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and those who are healthy
• Make independent decisions regarding management and treatment of identified medical problems
• Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests for screening and diagnosis
• Prescribe appropriate diet, medications, and other forms of treatment such as physical therapy
• Perform therapeutic and corrective measures, including urgent care
• Refer clients to appropriate specialist nurses, physicians, or other healthcare providers
• Provide information, instruction, and counseling on health maintenance, health promotion, illness prevention, illness management, and medication use
• Evaluate the effectiveness of instruction and counseling; provide additional instruction as necessary and initiate follow-up with noncompliant patients
• Manage client care by developing treatment plans, monitoring progress, determining when referral is necessary, arranging further care, and determining when hospital admission or emergency room visits are necessary
• Assess social and economic factors for each client and tailor care accordingly
• Maintain familiarity with community resources and connect clients with appropriate services
• Contract with clients regarding provider and client responsibilities
• Make client home visits and provide care in the home as necessary
• Accept after-hours calls and handle after-hours problems on a rotating schedule
• Participate in development of health education materials and clinical practice guidelines
• Obtain informed consent from clients as appropriate
• Participate in community programs, health fairs, school programs, and workplace programs
• Represent the practice or profession before local and state governing bodies, agencies, and private businesses as needed
• Maintain an acceptable level of productivity to meet facility goals

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
• Nurse Practitioner certification
• Minimum of two years experience as an RN in a healthcare setting
• Current RN license in good standing for the state in which practicing
• Current Nurse Practitioner license in good standing for the state in which practicing
• Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and the World Wide Web
• Good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English

Employment Details

• Reports to: Director of Operations - Advance Practice
• Moderate travel required
• Normal vision consistent with standard workflow
