Nurse Practitioner

The University of Rochester Infectious Diseases Division seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join the Center for Community Practice (CCP) on a per diem basis. This role combines direct clinical care with program management and technical assistance activities focused on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV prevention, and congenital syphilis prevention.

You will provide clinical services at the Monroe County Department of Health Sexual Health Clinic, a free, walk-in STI clinic in Rochester, New York, while serving as Program Manager for the New York State-funded Congenital Syphilis Prevention Project (CSPP). This position requires direct clinical expertise in STI care and syphilis serology interpretation, with responsibilities spanning clinical case management, program administration, policy collaboration, and provider education.

Clinical Setting

The Center for Community Practice operates multiple programs funded through grants and contracts from state and local Departments of Health and the CDC. The Sexual Health Clinic provides free, walk-in STI services. CCP collaborates with clinicians, health care systems, community-based organizations, and public health departments across multiple levels of the HIV/STI health care system.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Program Manager of the Congenital Syphilis Prevention Project, representing the program at New York State Department of Health committee and sub-committee meetings and submitting workplan reports to NYS DOH
• Conduct twice-weekly reviews of the New York State Communicable Diseases Electronic Surveillance System (after obtaining formal deputization status through NYS Department of Health) for updated clinical and laboratory information on pregnant patients and neonates undergoing follow-up through the CSPP
• Seek contact with obstetric, pediatric, and partner services providers as needed to obtain patient-specific information related to syphilis or provide necessary follow-up
• Coordinate and conduct twice-weekly case review meetings with Infectious Diseases faculty and NYS Department of Health staff
• Maintain and update an Excel database of CSPP cases based on meeting outcomes
• Provide high-quality clinical consultative services to policy and program leaders of academic institutions, medical centers, state and jurisdiction health departments, and community-based health organizations in New York State to improve congenital syphilis outcomes as part of technical assistance activities
• Develop and deliver CME-accredited presentations to clinical and public health audiences in New York State
• Provide direct HIV prevention and STI diagnostic and treatment services at the Monroe County Sexual Health Clinic as needed in a float capacity
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program
• New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
• Licensed Nurse Practitioner in New York State upon hire
• Minimum of 3 years of experience providing STI clinical care
• Direct clinical experience providing STI clinical and prevention care
• Experience in the interpretation of syphilis serologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a health care setting
• Familiarity with CDC and New York State HIV and STI guidelines
• Prior work experience working with diverse, gay, and/or transgender individuals
• Clinical competence with very acute, chronic, and well patients
• Effective professional writing skills
• Problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
• Group facilitation skills and cultural competency
• Ability to manage competing priorities and function independently
• Ability to take initiative, demonstrate resourcefulness, and commitment to follow-through and ensure timely completion of high-quality work
• May require travel within New York State and out of state

Schedule and Employment Type

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $47.36 - $63.94
• Individual hourly rates will be set within the compensation range based on factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations
