Nurse Manager, Pediatric Cardiac Operating Room

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Pediatric Cardiac Operating Room in Wilmington, Delaware. In this leadership role, you will oversee clinical operations of a specialized cardiac surgical suite performing approximately 200 cardiac procedures annually. You will guide a highly specialized nursing team, mentor staff development, and foster an environment centered on clinical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Clinical Setting

The Pediatric Cardiac Operating Room is a specialized surgical environment dedicated to pediatric cardiac procedures. You will coordinate perioperative nursing care across the cardiac operative suite and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support seamless patient care.

Responsibilities

• Lead nursing practice and organizational decision-making within the Pediatric Cardiac OR
• Ensure accountability for safe, high-quality, and appropriate care for patients and families
• Guide, supervise, mentor, and develop team members reporting to the Nurse Manager
• Coordinate nursing services with other healthcare disciplines to support seamless perioperative care
• Recruit, select, retain, staff, and schedule personnel to promote effective team utilization
• Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development
• Evaluate personnel performance and foster a strong culture of peer review and professional growth
• Plan and monitor the budget for assigned areas of responsibility
• Engage staff in evaluative research and create meaningful learning experiences for nursing and other students
• Champion principles of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet model
• Support departmental and hospital quality assessment and improvement programs
• Advance evidence-based care delivery and LEAN or similar continuous-improvement practices
• Translate opportunities into actions aligned with the goals of the Nemours Foundation

Required Qualifications

• Active Delaware registered nurse license
• At least five years of clinical nursing experience
• Previous management experience
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, management theory, and the change process

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or a related field
• One or more years of pediatric nursing experience
• Certification in nursing administration and/or CVOR
• Experience as both a scrub and circulating nurse in a cardiovascular operating room
