Tucson Unified School District is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the health and wellness of students at district schools. Working under the supervision of the School Nurse, you will provide direct care for urgent medical needs, conduct health screenings, administer medications, maintain medical records, and assist with personal hygiene and health maintenance for the student population. This position offers competitive compensation with salary increases funded through a community-approved override guaranteed through June 2031.
Clinical Setting

Responsibilities
- Assess and provide care for urgent medical needs
- Administer prescribed medications according to instructions
- Conduct health screenings
- Assist with personal hygiene needs
- Maintain comprehensive medical records
- Support the School Nurse in maintaining a comprehensive health program
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a certificate program in Practical Nursing
- Current, active, and unencumbered Arizona Licensed Practical Nurse license (Compact licenses may be considered; Arizona residents must hold an Arizona home compact state license)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized provider (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Health and Safety Institute, or equivalent) required at time of hire
- Valid Arizona Driver's License (required within 30 days of hire)
- Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
- Reliable personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance meeting state minimum requirements
- Valid driver's record meeting district standards
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of pediatric, public health, or school nursing experience
- Arizona State Certificate in Vision and Hearing Screening
Schedule and Employment
- Full-time position: 1.0 FTE, 8 hours per day
- 10-month work calendar (effective 2026-2027 school year)
- Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits
- Salary will be prorated if start date is after the first day of the work calendar
Additional Requirements
- Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for an Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Provider ID Number
- Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language
