Nurse Extern Transitional Care Unit

St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis is seeking a Nurse Extern for the Transitional Care Unit. This is a variable shift position that provides an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a structured learning environment.

You will work under the direct supervision and guidance of an experienced RN preceptor who will provide personalized 1:1 clinical training and hands-on assistance throughout your role. This mentorship model is designed to support your development as you transition into professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized patient care consistent with each patient's plan of care under RN direction and supervision
• Report changes in patient condition to the RN in a timely manner
• Make rounds and handle basic patient requests
• Perform patient and family assistance tasks as needed
• Seek and utilize feedback from your Clinical Leader and RN preceptor to identify opportunities for clinical performance improvement

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing
• Successfully completed one clinical nursing rotation
