Nurse Extern - Telemetry

This Nurse Extern position is designed to provide expanded clinical experience for senior-year RN nursing students while assisting the Registered Nursing staff in delivering patient care. You will work in a per diem, days schedule at Valley Baptist Medical Center - Harlingen, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to care for medical-surgical patients in advanced facilities that include a primary stroke center and a long-term acute care unit.

Responsibilities

• Participate in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation
• Perform patient care activities under the supervision of Registered Nursing staff
• Report significant observations to a Registered Nurse
• Work with a 1:1 preceptorship model with a Registered Nurse

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program
• Successfully entered senior year in an accredited school of nursing
• Must pass all senior courses to remain in the program
• AHA BLS certification
