Nurse Extern

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Extern to join our 772-bed acute care hospital serving a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. This role is designed as a learning opportunity for nursing students to acquire basic clinical skills and advance their knowledge related to patient care.

As a Nurse Extern, you will perform a variety of delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist patients with activities of daily living and maintain an environment conducive to patient safety.

Clinical Setting

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is the region's healthcare leader and top provider of advanced care, featuring a Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, and advanced cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic, and surgery programs. The system also includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs, and more than 50 affiliated physician practices.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program
• Successfully completed at least one clinical semester of the core curriculum
• Active American Heart Association CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider card
• Able to maintain flex requirements of 32 hours per month, with one weekend shift, and one major holiday in the summer and one major holiday in the winter

Schedule and Orientation

• Flexible shifts based on unit need and colleague availability
• Acceptance of a Nurse Extern position requires completion of mandatory hospital orientation for a full week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
