Nurse Extern Student Nurse All HCA Midwest

Join HCA Midwest Hospitals as a Nurse Extern and gain hands-on clinical experience while pursuing your RN degree. This position allows you to work alongside the nursing team in a supportive learning environment, developing the skills and confidence needed for advanced nursing responsibilities.

You will have the opportunity to choose from multiple HCA Midwest Health Hospital locations, including Belton Regional Medical Center, Centerpoint Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Lafayette Regional, Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park Regional, Research Medical Center, and Research Psychiatric Center.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a nursing program for RN degree only
• Completion of nursing fundamentals by start date
• Currently taking nursing fundamentals coursework at time of interview
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
