Nurse Extern

Shepherd Center is seeking a Nurse Extern to support the nursing team in providing care to patients with complex conditions including spinal cord and brain injuries, multi-trauma, traumatic amputations, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and pain management. As a premier rehabilitation facility recognized by U.S. News as one of the nation's top hospitals for rehabilitation, Shepherd Center is the only rehabilitation facility in the nation with an on-site intensive care unit, allowing us to care for the most complex patients and begin rehabilitation sooner.

Responsibilities

• Observe and effectively communicate changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations
• Perform procedures, report clinical observations, and assist with activities of daily living
• Practice standard precaution and isolation procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Interact with and pursue professional development with all unit staff
• Maintain appropriate professional image and practice within a Shared Governance model of nursing practice
