Nurse Extern Renal PRN

Join Las Palmas Medical Center as a Nurse Extern in our Renal specialty on a PRN basis. This position offers hands-on experience in the nursing role while you progress through your nursing program. You will work as part of the nursing team delivering safe, compassionate care to patients while building clinical skills and confidence.

Las Palmas Medical Center is a 300+ bed full-service hospital in El Paso and home to the region's only kidney transplant center. The facility offers emergency care with a Level III trauma center, cardiac care, women's services, pediatric care, NICU, cancer care, and more.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

• No travel required
• PRN (as needed) position
