Nurse Extern Program

The Nurse Extern Program provides an opportunity to work under direct supervision while assisting nursing staff in delivering comprehensive healthcare services. In this role, you will support the nursing team in providing high-quality patient care and contribute to the overall well-being of patients while collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the assessment and monitoring of patients' physical and mental health status
• Provide direct patient care, perform treatments, and assist with procedures
• Document patient information accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions to the nursing staff
• Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled as a rising senior in an approved school of nursing
• Completion of Nursing Assistant I and II training programs
• NAI Certification (Nurse Aide I)
• NAII Certification (Nursing Assistant II)
• BLS (CPR) certification from AHA or ARC
• Currently listed in good standing as Nurse Aide I with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services
