Nurse Extern PRN Telemetry Renal

Rapides Regional Medical Center, a 350+ bed hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana, is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN position in Telemetry Renal. As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience and exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of foundation, fundamental, or Med Surg I clinical coursework
