Nurse Extern PRN Surgical Cardiology

Join HCA HealthONE Swedish as a Nurse Extern in our Surgical Cardiology unit. This PRN position offers hands-on clinical experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while building skills and confidence to advance through your nursing program. You will provide direct patient care in a supportive learning environment with guidance from your supervisor or preceptor.

Clinical Setting

HCA HealthONE Swedish is a 408-bed acute care hospital and a national leader in neurosciences. The hospital serves as the region's preeminent referral center for advanced stroke treatment and houses a robust robotics program, certified burn and reconstructive center, and comprehensive oncology center.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) position
• No travel required

Compensation

Hourly wage estimate: $22.05 - $29.78 per hour. Actual salary may vary based on specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of the range.
