Nurse Extern PRN Rehab

TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern to join our rehabilitation department on a PRN basis. As a Nurse Extern, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care, maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment, and supporting patients with activities of daily living.

This position is ideal for nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and seeking clinical experience. You may be considered for this role after completion of your first nursing semester, or as a CNA in your first semester of an RN program. As you progress and demonstrate competency, you will have the opportunity to perform higher-level procedures.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in the rehabilitation department
• Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate individuals
• Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients
• Document patient care information in appropriate computer systems
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, obtained and maintained within hospital policy timeframes
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program
• Eligible after completion of first nursing semester or as a CNA in first semester of RN program
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
