Join Chippenham Hospital as a Nurse Extern in our Ortho Spine unit, where you'll gain hands-on clinical experience while enrolled in your RN program. This PRN position offers the opportunity to explore the full scope of the registered nurse role in a supportive learning environment, working with orthopedic and spine patients in one of the region's leading acute care facilities.
Chippenham Hospital is a 460+ bed acute care facility recognized by The Joint Commission with a Gold Seal of Approval. The hospital specializes in orthopedics and joint care, among other services, and serves as a Level I Trauma Center and Level I Burn Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
- Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
- Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure coordinated, seamless patient care
- Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
- Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
- Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an RN program
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Compensation
- Hourly wage: $16.02 - $22.43 per hour
- Actual salary may vary based on specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role
Schedule
- PRN (as needed) position
- No travel required
