Nurse Extern PRN Med Surg

Join Parham Doctors' Hospital as a Nurse Extern in Medical-Surgical nursing. This PRN position offers hands-on clinical experience as you progress through your RN program, working alongside the nursing team to deliver safe, compassionate patient care while building the skills and confidence needed for advanced nursing responsibilities.

Parham Doctors' Hospital is a 340-bed community hospital operated by HCA Healthcare, offering a full range of clinical services including cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, physical therapy, women's services, and a 24/7 emergency department.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an RN program
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Compensation

• Hourly wage: $16.02 - $22.43 per hour
• Actual salary may vary based on specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role
