Nurse Extern PRN Med Surg

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for their health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and keeping the environment organized
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Clinical Setting

Chippenham Hospital is a 460+ bed acute care facility located on the Southside of Richmond. The hospital has been providing quality healthcare services since 1972 and is one of the region's leading acute care facilities. The hospital is recognized as a regional leader in orthopedics, joint care, behavioral health, and cardiovascular care. It holds The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval and is designated as a Level I Burn Center and Level I Trauma Center.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an RN program
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Compensation

Hourly wage estimate: $16.02 - $22.43 per hour. The estimate displayed represents the typical wage range of candidates hired. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of the range.

Schedule

PRN (as needed) position with no travel required.
