Nurse Extern PRN

HCA Florida West Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN to join our nursing team. As a Nurse Extern, you will gain hands-on experience exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives. Clinical Setting

HCA Florida West Hospital is a 515-bed facility recognized as the area's leading healthcare provider in quality outcomes performance. The hospital offers comprehensive services including cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, oncology, orthopedics, robotic-assisted surgery, critical care, neurology/neurosurgery, urology, gastroenterology, obstetrics, pulmonary and rehabilitative medicine, and behavioral health. The facility is accredited as a Chest Pain Center, Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services Center, and Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The hospital features specialized emergency departments for seniors and children, including a dedicated Kids ER.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks including wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

• PRN (as needed) position
• No travel required
