Nurse Extern PRN

HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN to join our nursing team. As a Nurse Extern, you will gain hands-on experience exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives. This position is ideal for nursing students building skills and confidence as you progress through your nursing program.

Clinical Setting

HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is a 404-bed tertiary care hospital accredited by the Joint Commission and designated as a Level II Trauma Center. We are a teaching hospital in collaboration with UCF College of Medicine, conveniently located in Kissimmee with minutes to Orlando, St. Cloud, Celebration, and Poinciana. Our services include Emergency Care, Trauma Care, Pediatric ER, Heart & Vascular Institute, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Maternity Care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level II, Women's Services, Behavioral Health, Orthopedics & Spine, and a Graduate Medical Education Program. We also operate a freestanding Emergency Department at Hunter's Creek ER.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks including wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for their health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) position
• No travel required
