Nurse Extern PRN Float

TriStar Summit Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN Float to join our nursing team. As a Nurse Extern, you will gain hands-on experience exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives. This position will help you build the skills and confidence needed as you progress through your nursing program.

Clinical Setting

TriStar Summit Medical Center is a 230+ bed comprehensive facility serving Davidson, Wilson, and surrounding counties. The facility includes a Level III Trauma Center and offers a full array of acute care services including cardiology, oncology, orthopedics/spine, rehabilitation, and women's services. We are an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI and a Primary Stroke Center, serving as a leading provider of emergency heart and stroke care.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for their health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), BCLS Instructor certification, or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

• PRN (as needed) position
