Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool

TriCities Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN Float Pool position. As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

Clinical Setting

TriCities Hospital is a 140+ bed acute care facility serving the Tri-Cities Region. The hospital has provided quality healthcare services since 1915 and is recognized by the Joint Commission as a top performing hospital. The emergency department is stroke and chest pain accredited.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for their health and recovery
• Keep patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an RN program
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date

Compensation

Hourly wage estimate: $16.02 - $22.43 per hour. The estimate displayed represents the typical wage range of candidates hired. Factors that may determine your actual salary include your specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of the range.
