Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool

Parkridge Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN Float Pool position. As a Nurse Extern, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care across various departments, support the patient care team in maintaining a clean and safe environment, and help patients with activities of daily living.

Clinical Setting

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital located near downtown Chattanooga. The facility offers comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services including cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, rehabilitation, neurosurgery, OB-GYN services, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You will float across departments as needed to support patient care operations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in assigned departments
• Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate individuals
• Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients
• Document patient care information in appropriate computer systems
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, obtained and maintained within hospital policy timeframes
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program
• Eligible for Nurse Extern position after completion of first nursing semester, or eligible as a CNA in first semester of RN program
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
