Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool

Medical City Lewisville is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN Float Pool position. As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives while building the skills and confidence needed as you progress through your nursing program.

Clinical Setting

Medical City Lewisville is a full-service 190+ bed medical and surgical facility serving southern Denton County. The hospital includes two floors dedicated to women's services, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and is designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. You will work within a supportive environment equipped with advanced technologies and innovative medicines.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks including wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing (BSN) program
• Completion of Foundation, Fundamental, or Med Surg I clinical coursework

Schedule

This is a PRN (as-needed) Float Pool position, providing flexibility in scheduling.
