Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool

Medical City Arlington is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN Float Pool position. As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on clinical experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will help deliver safe, compassionate care to patients while building the skills and confidence needed to progress through your nursing program.

Clinical Setting

Medical City Arlington is a 435+ bed full-service hospital located in south Arlington. The hospital provides comprehensive services including heart and vascular care, brain and spine services, emergency and trauma care, cancer care, orthopedics, surgical services, and women's services. The nursing team consists of over 1,400 full-time and part-time nurses, therapists, technicians, and other healthcare colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks including wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Completion of foundation, fundamental, or Med Surg I clinical coursework
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
