Nurse Extern PRN ER

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN position in the Emergency Department. As a Nurse Extern, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care according to your skills and training, while supporting the patient care team in maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in the Emergency Department
• Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate individuals
• Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients
• Document patient care information in appropriate computer systems
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) for assigned patients
• Perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, obtained and maintained within hospital policy timeframes
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program
• Eligible for Nurse Extern position after completion of first nursing semester, or eligible as a CNA in first semester of RN program
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is a 740+ bed comprehensive facility offering medical and surgical programs including behavioral health, 24-hour emergency services, heart and vascular, imaging, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, rehabilitation, sleep disorder, and women's services.
