Nurse Extern PRN Emergency

Frankfort Regional Medical Center, a 170+ bed acute care facility in Central Kentucky, is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN for the Emergency Department. As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience and exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives.

This position offers the opportunity to build clinical skills and confidence as you progress through your nursing program, working under the guidance of experienced preceptors and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and develop competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Emergency Department at a leading acute care facility in Central Kentucky with a strong reputation for subspecialty services.

Required Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• No prior nursing experience required

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) position
• No travel required
