Nurse Extern PRN ED

TriStar Horizon Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern for a PRN position in the Emergency Department. As a Nurse Extern, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care, maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment, and supporting activities of daily living for assigned patients.

TriStar Horizon Medical Center is an accredited, 150+ bed regional medical center offering a full array of services including cardiology, diagnostic imaging, emergency care, inpatient rehabilitation, oncology, orthopedics, and women's services. The facility is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center, providing 24/7 emergency services.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in the Emergency Department
• Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate individuals
• Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients
• Document patient care information in appropriate computer systems
• Assist with activities of daily living for assigned patients
• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program
• Eligible after completion of first nursing semester or as a CNA in first semester of RN program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current and maintained within hospital policy timeframes
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification, to be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
