Nurse Extern PRN CVICU

Join TriStar Centennial Medical Center as a Nurse Extern in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This PRN position offers hands-on experience in acute cardiac care while you progress through your nursing program. You will work alongside experienced nursing staff to deliver safe, compassionate care to critically ill cardiac patients, building clinical skills and confidence in a supportive learning environment.

Clinical Setting

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is a 740+ bed comprehensive facility with a dedicated Heart and Vascular Center. The CVICU provides specialized care for patients with cardiac and cardiovascular conditions requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document patient care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure coordinated, seamless care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve patient care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• No prior nursing experience required

Schedule

• PRN (as-needed) position
• No travel required
