Nurse Extern, PRN

Community Hospital is seeking a Student Nurse Extern to join our clinical team on a PRN (as-needed) basis. This position is designed for nursing students in their final semester of an accredited nursing program. You will work under the direct supervision and delegation of Registered Nurses, performing routine patient care activities and assisting with essential hospital operations.

Clinical Setting

This is an onsite, in-person position at Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. You will work in a hospital environment providing direct patient support and care.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, repetitive patient care tasks as delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse
• Monitor vital signs and record patient measurements such as blood glucose levels
• Record patient intake and output
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating
• Transport patients as needed
• Provide observation and safety monitoring for patients identified as fall risk
• Collect specimens and manage supplies
• Clean and stock patient rooms and departmental areas
• Participate as an active member of the healthcare team and support team morale with patients, families, caregivers, and colleagues

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a formal Board of Nursing approved undergraduate nursing program leading to a degree in nursing
• Completion of at least three (3) semesters of nursing school
• In good academic standing
• Must be in your final semester of nursing school
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Able to work a minimum of 24 hours per month while in school

Relocation Requirement

You must relocate to Grand Junction, CO 81505 before starting work.

Compensation

The anticipated hourly rate is $19.00–$21.85 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and other applicable factors. Additional compensation may be available through discretionary incentive or other compensation programs, though such additional compensation is not guaranteed and is determined at the organization's sole discretion.
