Nurse Extern - Obstetrics

As a Nurse Extern in Obstetrics, you will provide essential nursing assistance and support to patients under the direction of an RN. You will work in our Maternal Child Units, specifically in Labor and Delivery, caring for patients with pregnancy-related conditions. This role offers the opportunity to gain clinical experience in a specialty area while providing compassionate patient care during one of life's most important moments.

Clinical Setting

You will work in our Labor and Delivery unit, which is part of our Maternal Child Health services. Our facility is part of the Baptist Health System, which includes six full-service hospitals and a specialized children's hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned patients under RN supervision
• Assist with patient comfort and support during labor and delivery
• Support clinically competent maternity care staff
• Contribute to positive patient experiences during their healthcare journey

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing
• Completed one semester of clinicals in an RN program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or Military Training Network
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to position
