Nurse Extern - NICU

As a Nurse Extern in the NICU, you will provide basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned groups of newborn patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. You will work within a Nursery care unit that provides care for newborns from admission through discharge, supported by clinically competent nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned newborn patients
• Work under the direct supervision and direction of an RN
• Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing
• Completed one semester of clinicals in an RN program
• Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification on hire (ARC or AHA); must obtain AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire

Additional Requirements

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training must be obtained within 60 days of hire if assigned to the Emergency Department or Behavioral Health areas
• Must complete NVCI training before working in the role of a constant observer
