Nurse Extern - NICU

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Extern for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This position is designed as a learning opportunity for nursing students to acquire basic clinical skills and advance their knowledge in patient care within a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care setting.

Clinical Setting

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region's only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care provider, serving a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Maintain an environment conducive to patient safety

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program
• Successfully completed at least one clinical semester of the core curriculum
• Active American Heart Association CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider card

Schedule and Hours

• Flexible scheduling based on unit need and colleague availability
• Minimum 32 hours per month required
• Must include one weekend shift per month
• Must work one major holiday in summer and one major holiday in winter
• Mandatory full-week hospital orientation (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) required before position begins
