Nurse Extern - Med Surg

This is a developmental program for nursing students seeking to build clinical skills across multiple nursing specialties. The Nurse Extern role provides expanded clinical experience for RN nursing students while assisting Registered Nursing staff with patient care activities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation
• Perform patient care activities under the guidance of Registered Nurses
• Report significant observations to Registered Nursing staff
• Participate in a guided training and development program aligned to State Board of Nursing scope requirements

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program
• Completion of first clinical rotation
• AHA BLS certification

Schedule

• Rotating shifts
• Per Diem employment type
