Nurse Extern Med Surg Galen Students

HCA Florida JFK North Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern for our Medical-Surgical units. This is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will work as a valued member of the nursing team, delivering safe, compassionate care to patients while building the skills and confidence needed to progress through your nursing program.

HCA Florida JFK North Hospital is a 280-bed acute care facility located in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a 124-bed behavioral health unit. Our services include a 24-hour Emergency Department, Advanced Primary Certified Stroke Center, Orthopedic Institute, Critical Care Unit, Interventional Vascular Suite, Inpatient Diabetes Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Outpatient Rehabilitation, and a Center for Pain Care.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean, safe patient care environments by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the workspace
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of nursing school completed
